I'd like to know how pentatonics on a five string bass would work. I've been using

G------------1-3
D---------1-3---
A------1-3------
E---1-4---------
B1-4------------

but it seems wrong and illogical. any help is appreciated

wot pentatonic scale exactly are u trying to play?
i need to get a better signature.

then its just notes 1 3 4 5 7 of the scale. shouldnt u go frets 1 - 3 - 4 on the E string?
i need to get a better signature.

I don't think so, but I learned it mainly from the guitar lesson 'Hopscotch' so it may be ****ed.

well the scale ur trying to play (im assuming from ur diagram) is c minor pentatonic (because it starts on a c :p) the notes in c minor are C, D, Eb, F, G, Ab, Bb, C. for the pentatonic version, we use 1 3 4 5 7 from that, so : C, Eb, F, G, Bb, C.

ill leave u to work out the frets :-)

oh and a tip: when learning new scale positions, try to work them out yourself, rather than follow 'patterns'.
i need to get a better signature.
