Hendrix is overrated. Page all the way. Hendrix is still great but used way too much feedback and distortion.

I agree 100%. Both Hendrix and Page are legends. Eddie Van Halen is probably in the top 5 but not a personal favorite of mine.

You can't really do this type of comparison, mainly because of the word "best".

Most classic rock guitarists all good in their own way and have their own strong points and faults.

Jerry Garcia, Neil Young, or John Lennon. If i can qoute Bill Graham "They're not the best at what they do, they're the only ones who do what they do." I love these 3 guys playing styles and they appeal the most to me out of all classic rock guitarist, and in my book that makes them the best.

It's really only until you see all the names in a consecutive line that you begin to understand how terrible classic rock guitarists are compared to those in other genres. But that's just me anyway.

The best Classic Rock guitarist is either Clapton, Lifeson or Harrison, but it really doesn't matter as this thread will likely be closed in about ten minutes.

It's all about preference. Hendrix, Clapton, and Page have to be mentioned because they were great blues guitarists. Page was the best riffwriter out of the 3 I have to say.

Then you have Gilmour, who's solos were just amazing. Two words. Comfortably. Numb.

Eddie Van Halen. That guy gives shredding a good name. One word. Eruption.

And then three guitarists who I feel are rather underrated.

George Harrison
Alex Lifeson
Brain May
