I thought I'd take this opportunity to ask people about their amps and to get samples from their rig. There is already a thread about this in the Guitar & acc. section, unfortunatly no bass amps have been posted. SO,

I want to ask people hear to maybe drop in clips of their rigs with pictures.
State what it is, where or how you aquired it and what you are doing in the clip (slap, fingering, picking, ect.)

Im not sure at this stage how we will compile them all, if it goes ahead, but most probably like Ibanez4life did on Dmusic.

Thanks,
And dont say something if its just going to spark an argument please.

I just use a Peavey basic 112, a Bp200 though I rarely use it, and a Squier P-bass, But my new bass will be here in about 4days so soon i'll be using a Fender Jazz bass V. Works for practice and playing at school.

I've got clips of my amp, but it's with my band and the recordings are shoddy. The only song where you can really hear it well is The Marching Song, it's pretty much solo for a few bars after the drum intro. Still, if you wanna check it out go to my bands website:

http://www.myspace.com/thehunsband

It's a Hartke HA3500 with a VX 1x15" cab. The bass is a cheap Stagg active jazz bass copy.

I've got a sort of V shaped EQ, and I'm using both pickups equally, the basses EQ is flat.

I'm playing fingerstle (duh) near the bridge pickup. In the chorus (kinda reggaeish bit) I'm picking near the neck. It sounds alot better now that I've gotten rid of the crappy stock strings, but you get the idea.

In Jumpin' Around and Nowhere to Run I've got it set to the neck pup with a little bit of bridge, and the bass turned up a bit. But the guy that mixed us made the bass nonexistant in those tracks...

If you want pictures there are some in the pics section.

If you can safely run a DI into a computer I could get some better clips up, but i don't know if you can do that. I have the proper converter jacks, so if anyone knows if I can do this please tell me.

Sweet, if anyone wants more clips just ask. Keep in mind that I haven't been playing long, so don't try and make me do anything that's insanely technical.

Well, as it is just amp sample stuff, a major scale will do. I am going to record some stuff later on my GK amp..

Cool thread. I'll record some stuff with my Stingray tommorow when I get my 400RB/115

Yertle (whats your name btw?), what 115 are you getting? BLX, SBX or RBH? You must let me know how it is, as i am thinking of getting a 115 to match by 410 to create my full stack.

names Ethan, and its actually the 400RB/115 combo. I don't think it's specifically paired with one of the above mentioned speakers, just a standard GK paragon 15 inch woofer. I'm interested in adding another cab before the end of the summer, however, although I'm not totally sure the 240 watts will be able to power it. You have the 400RBIII, right? How's the volume? Think you can power both the 410 and the 115?

I have the mark IV, but at the moment it's running at 8 ohms so i am losing half the power. if i whack the 115 below, i get the full wattage.. and yeah it should be sweet to power both. I've never turned it passed 1/4 way round as it shakes my whole room and things fall off shelves. Seriously!

How's it play in a band situation? What wattage is your guitarist?

not sure what he uses to be honest, but gigging is fine. I only ever play venues with PA systems and they take a direct out via the xlr on the front (balanced), so i basicallly only use it for monitoring on stage.. Rehearsal is sweet though...

The one that says "Musicman Tone" I think is a good example of how versatile my rig is...
It was recorded by micing my GK with a Shure SM57 running into my firepod and through my computer. I used my Ibanez strung with D'Addario XL strings.
My settings are thus:
GK- 5-string voicing filter on, countour at 12 o'clock, presence at 9 o'clock, treble at 1 o'clock, high mid at 9 o'clock, low mid at 1 o'clock, bass at 3 o'clock.
Ibanez- Both pickups on, treble boosted a third of the way up, mids dropped to about half way, and bass boosted about half way.
Cab- The tweeter was turned up to 10 o'clock

No EQing was done after I recorded it. The mic was placed inbetween the tweeter and the top 12" speaker.

I used exactly the same EQ and amp settings for all of these, except I was using week old DR Hi-Beam strings.

^ interesting. nice tone. you know sm57's do not have a flat response, they are slightly more sensitive to higher freqeuncies, which is why they are mainly used on snare drums. I bet if you used a different mic you'd get a different tone. Sounds nice though mate !

i just love GK, it was the only amp i was ever going to buy
