I'm thinking about getting a distortion pedal and I'm looking at the MXR Distortion+. Can you get a good sound out of that when running it from a standard fat strat to a Vox AD50VT.

I own the Distortion+. It all depends on what you're looking for in distortion. The Distortion+ is a good pedal if you're looking for a classic rock style of distortion. If you're looking for hard rock/metal I would suggest getting something else. As for a good sound, yes it does sound good and keeps your tone very nice.

I want the classic rock kind of distortion. Maybe pushing into something a little bit heavier (i.e. Pearl Jam, and at times RHCP). Thanks for the help

If you want the classic rock distortion, then the Distortion+ is for you, man. What kind of amp do you have? I ask that for your Pearl Jam and RHCP songs. Maybe your amp could cover you on that.
