Basically, what bass do you guys prefer? A Fender Jazz Bass or a Fender Precision Bass?

Ahhhhhhhhhh, don't make me choose... But if I had to choose I'd probably go precision.

P-basses because of a master volume, as opposed to a Jazz, where you have to turn both pickups down precisely or you'll lose your tone. and P bass necks are more gradual in their tightening towards the nut, which is better because my hands are humongous.

this is comparing the standard four-string P- and J-basses.

If you're going purely on looks: J-bass without a doubt (I'm superficial)

i much prefer the jazz, for looks and they tend to have a better slap tone, from what i've heard so far anyway.

I chose a jazz bass, plus looks wise they're just like comparing a hot girl from school and a supermodel (if that makes sense). One is hot but the other is like DAMN! I would really want a P+J pickup set up but have yet to see them on a normal looking jazz. . .

P-bass.

Although a vintage artic white j-bass with a tortoiseshell pickguard might be the sexiest thing i've ever seen.
#13
i play a Jazz bass. i prefer the narrow neck, and the versatility of the sound.
a jazz can get real close to a "P" sound and still have a wide variety of other sounds available. i play a Fender (made in usa). as for the P/J config. G&L rules that world. imo

JAZZZZZZ.

In my opinion the tone just dominates. Easier to play, smoother, better tone, theres no question. But to each his own, and the P is a freakin sweet bass.

Actually, if I'm gonna be playing jazz and its bebop/big band (which it always is), I would use a Presicion bass, it has a thumpier sound, and I would use flatwounds with it. For anything else, Jazz. Creamy white Jazz with a tortise shell pickguard = teh sex.

I think they sound like crap and the Jazz bass is a lot more versatile, IMO of course.

I like jazz tone better, but it would be really sweet if they had a J-bass with a pickup switch

P-Bass. I love my P-Bass, the way it looks, sounds and is set-up. I do want to buy a '62 Jazz Bass, though.

we all know that cort is the way to go, but for a fender, i personally play a jazz, but would prefer a high end P i think, or just an aerodyne jazz
