Hullo everyone, time for another n00bular question, obviously coming from ME.

Anyway, Seymour Duncan's pickup diagrams show 5 (five) wires coming from a 4-conductor pickup. The fifth is the bare wire that goes to ground.

What I want to know is, where the hell does this wire come from? The other four wires are both ends of each wound coil, but where does the fifth one come from?

Please excuse me for being a pickup n00b, but everyone starts somewhere.

Thanks in advance

5th wire = grounding things that aren't the actual pickup (the metal plate thing on the back)

Don't worry. I don't understand what I wrote either. I never proof read cos it won't make any sense anyway.
