I am 18 years old,
and i want to learn how to play the electric guitar so this not too late for my age?

the best thing to do is start off with a music book... hal leonard makes the best ones... and if you dont have a guitar and you are low on cash i would recommend a epiphone sg 310... and if you can afford it get a gibson or a fender

Do u have any friends who play? It will be easierto learn if u do.

I actually borrowed my first guitar and amp from a real guitar addict. Its a good way to start. And if check ebay or something for guitars. Better prices than in the shop. Just bring your friend to check the guitar out.

dude why would anyone start with a gibson. also considering hes 18 and i doubt he makes alot of money.

edit: i say you get an epiphone, good and cheap guitars. and you start with a book, and maybe work your way into UG's lessons. Maybe some of your friends could help you or maybe (if you have the money) get a couple of lessons.

nah man..its not too late. Starting with a book is good and if you think you like it then take a few basic lessons to get you started. They have a ton of inexpensive gutiars out there to start out with too instead of having to rent one and all that.

Good luck!

yea and there really is no reason to get a gibson or fender to start out with. a cheap squier or something liek that is more than enough for a beginner. I used a squier for 5 years before i got a fender so it doesn't really matter. Make sure you really like it before you spend five hundred plus on a guitar.

Jenny needs to sow her wild oats with random Gibsons and Taylors she picks up in bars before she settles down with a PRS.

for amps...
if u like high gain music, check out Roland Cubes.
they have a micro, its small but several usable effects.
and they have a 30W, also a very good practice amp.
range in price from $125-225 US.

as for guitars,
scheceter makes an omen 6, basswood , 2 humbucker guitar. for $300US
ibanez makes a hardtail starter guitar for a couple hundred.
Yamaha makes a Humbucker in the bridge, alder wood Fat strat for $200.
(id stay away from trem bridges unless u get at leas an intermediate guitar)

intermediate guitars, include...
epiphone standards and up.
schecter C1 body guitars
fender HH or Fat strats
ibanez sz and some rg models.

yeah try to find someone that knows or plays guitar, they tend to give you free lessons, like 3 of my friends are in metal bands and they help out alot, and know its not too late, youve got plenty of time to learn its never too late, practice hard for a year and youll still only be 19(i know im good at math right), youll notice a massive improvement
