Yeah, i'm very sick of my MG30 i bought when i was in my NooB phase. I recently ordered a 59 bassman reissue. Can anyone give my some ideas of good settings to use for light blues-rock?

UPDATE: The amp arrived today, and i've been screwing around with it for the last hour or so. This amp is Sweet! I do have a few complaints though. One: It is VERY bassy. It was designed to be a bass amp, but man, i have to turn the bass down to 2 to get a decent level. Also, i think i will put in a tube rectifier, which is a very easy mod. The SS recto has a tube socket in it. But I would highly recommend this amp.

That my friend is a really clean, professional style amp.

As far as tone... that is something you'll have to figure out on your own... just remember if you have all the tone knobs set to zero... there will be no sound. True zero of tone is actually bass 0, treble 0, mids 10. and work from there. (by the way i got that info from an engineer at fender)

Congrats! I don't think it's possible to get a bad tone out of that amp.

I'm sorry for wasting your time. Anyways, I don't know any good Bassman settings, but congrats on the buy.

Amazing upgrade my friend!

And to answer your question(everybody else got sidetracked,) I recommend some heavy guage strings just because it sounds oh so better on a Fender type amp. 12's are my preference.

Btw, I've got a '68 Bassman, but I haven't really played it yet because it's so old. I'm fixing it up. Cost me 350 bucks.
I'm not very active here on UG currently.
I'm a retired Supermod off to the greener pastures of the real world.

Well, I hate to tell you, but the new one's aren't half as good as the old, but that's pretty much the same with everything, isn't it? If I were you, I'd crank the treble and mids and roll the bass back to 4.

Did you try out the Bassman before buying?

And! Get a nice overdrive along with it.

Tone is all ...... well probably 75%, in your fingers.
The rest depends on your wallet's thickness !!

Yeah....... I just realized that....... isn't it weird for a bluesman to have a russian mark as an avvy ??

Not if you're me. I have very eclectic tastes. Also, why not with the communism. As far as i'm concerned, blues is the music of the common people, and communism is their government.

try setting all the tones at 6 or 7, which is what i usually do, and then adjust up or down by half or whole settings until it sounds good, i usually have everything in that area to get the best sound.
