I don't think I've ever seen one on sale... bit of a rarity.

I don't think they "should" rival anything, what the hell's that meant to mean?
Feel free to ignore my ranting.

Mustangs are crappy leaners made famous by Kurt Cobain. Not the best sound, and hard to work on. You can get bosys at warmoth, and you can get them off ebay. but there nolonger being made.

Ah, but his favorite, and the guitar he loved the most (besdies his custom copy...), was his mustangs. While he cradled and babbied his jag, he used and loved his mustangs more.

And I'm just going on what I've been told about the sound of mustangs.

I understand what you mean with the tuning, if I do a 2step bend it tunes out with 1 step so...

but mustangs and many other fenders arent made to bend much with, more for clean rythm stuff, melodies etc.

Cobains guitar was a Jagstang? mix of jaguar and mustang?

"2. '66 Fender Jaguar, tobacco sunburst, tortoise shell PG, 2 Dimarzio HB's, modified? Kurt always said that this guitar (the guitar he polishes and babies) was a '66. However, all Jaguars from '66 onward had rectangular pearloid fret inlays, not dots like his did. Dotted fretboards were produced until '65"

thats scary.... Fenders homepage says my serial number belongs to 66-67... and my guitar got dots...

They stopped production of the Mustang a while back and replaced it with the Cyclone, currently I think the only model is the '69 Reissue Mustang.

The Cyclone is somewhere between the Mustang and the Jag-Stang..

Wha? Dud, I'm just saying that Mustangs were originally made as budget starter guitars. I ****ing love Nirvana and Kurt. He makes them sound great for the musi che plays, and frankly I like them, but I'm stating what has bee ntold to me by many people who own them. (I'm talking old ones, not the new remake replica's. Like origionals from 1966)

$629.
I own the reissue. And I love it. It's my favorite guitar. Music 123 should have it.

It's still on their website, listed as part of the "Classic" series, not the "Custom Shop" range.

Yeah, but if you get a custom shop, you'll get killer Pup's. Much better then what came on the remakes. (My teachers owns all three. A custom shop, a 1966 origional, and a remake)

Ironically, they don't seem to host any other discontinued guitars, and they don't have a Mustang anywhere in the Custom Shop listing - it's almost exclusively Strats and Teles.

...i personally own a 74 mustang,,,, the best thing about it is how small and comfortable it is to play,, i would say if you have the money , look on ebay ,, or something, ignore all these guys, who harass you because you like you music sloppy its better that way ,its kinda thin sounding, with the single coils, ,,, and one thing too, the tuning thing is ridiculous, ive had my mustang for over a year and a half, and it holds tune perfectly fine, and everything on mine is stock
you win , im stupid
#29
my girlfriends got a 69 mustang, it is really way too small for me, its just uncomfortable. sounds great, but i just cannot play on it.
#30
Okay I was wrong. It's not on their current price list, so I'd have to assume it's been discontinued.

So I'd say look at eBay, guitar shops that specialise in trade-ins, etc, or look at a Cyclone? The reviews are quite positive, and you'd only need a little work to make it more fully into a Mustang-type.

Jags are pretty sexy. Though, thats in a way that AC30s are sexy. Absolutely beautiful stuff, but I would never own it unless I was rich.

No. One was just a restatement of the other with diffrent wording. By saying they were made famous by Kurt is not dissing him.

ok i have more input now... I think a Jaguar would be a better buy than a Mustang.. idk how much they run for these days, but i have an original '62 American Jaguar and its a fantastic guitar.. much more versatile than a mustang, imo, and it will be a lot easier to find one. I dont think the mustang would be worth it

An origional is like 3000 or up. A remake of the '62 is $1,399.99 - $1,434.99 USA at musicians friend. The HH verisions are around 650 USA.
