What makes the Tele twang? Is it the body or what because you can even hear the twang when the guitar isnt plugged in. does any body know?

Ah yes, you've stumbled across the mysterious Tele Twang. The very twang which has transcended the ages, never to be fully understood. The best thing you can do is to forget everything you've seen or heard here today... it's for your own good.

Sorry, man. I guess I'm just in one of those moods. I'll try to actually help now.

The twang is most likely caused by a combination of the wood the body is made of, the shape of the body, and the pickups. I believe Ash teles give more of a twang than their Alder or Poplar counterparts, so that may be a major factor right there. I'm not sure what pickups Telecasters come stock with, but I'd say the wood probably contributes the twang as an extra "accent" if you will.
