Hey, I looked through a bunch of threads and I couldn't find any ones that explain well enough but, what I'm looking for is just a list of the best metal amps. I've heard mesa rectifiers are a solid choice, but I wanna have a wide range of decisions. Can anyone post in their oppinion what the best metal amps are? (not just brand, actual model too) Thanks!

Well, I don't know the models, but Krank, Marshall, Traynor, Randall, Crate. Basically a good metal amp is one with a lot of gain. A fender could be a metal amp with the right pedal. If your trying to get a particular band's sound, Find out what amp the guitarist uses. U could also go to Guitar Center, or whatever you have and tell 'em what your looking for.

^^ Second those. I don't think that you will need a triple recto though. If you are going for a recto, get a single or dual one. The XXX is a brighter amp so if you want a darker tone, go for the 5150/6505's.

The JCM's will probably need an OD for metal but all of these amps will be great. Just a little different.

Engl (pretty much anything except the classic tube, although some have more gain than others)
Framus Cobra and Dragon
Soldano SLO
Peavey XXX/6505/5150
Hughes and Kettner Triamp/Warp/Trilogy/Switchblade
Diezel VH4/Herbert/Einstein
Mesa rectos/f series/mark series/roadking
Laney VH/GH/TT
Cornford Hellcat/MK50/MK50 Mark II
VHT (various models)
Splawn Quick rod (more for classic metal)
Marshall TSL/DSL/JCM800/900

Krank and Crate Blue Voodoo (I haven't tried the krank, but I've heard some bad things), and I don't like the BV, but try them anyway...

I'd look into some of those...

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

i don't have much experience with krank, diezel, laney, hughes and ketner, VHT, Engl, soldano, or framus, cause they don't sell them at my store so i can't comment on those.
