Yeah, so he doesn't play guitar often, although he did pick up his Les Paul during his live shows to rock out to Highway to Hell and We Didn't Start the Fire, but he's still one of the best singer-songwriters of the last 30 years.

So, let's hear it for the Piano Man!

I'm not a huge fan, but I really like the stuff that I've heard and definately think he is a great songwriter and musician.

Step 1: Buy a Gibson SG
Step 2: Insert Green Ringer, EQ, 3 dead squirrels and a microwave into said SG
Step 3: Plug in and freak the **** out.

umm, in my mind. . .

Billy Joel = Liza Minnelli = Elton John

I like their art, but as people, I find them annoying.

He is very rivaled by Ben Folds nowadays.

It's close, i have one album by each of them, and they're boht insanley good.

Ben Folds is a great piano player and songwriter, but he is no where near the talent that Billy Joel posseses, both in songwriting and piano playing.

Tom Waits > Billy Joel as far as guitar/piano playing singer songwriter/ arrangers go.

Which isn't to say that I don't like the ocassionl Billy Joel. My friend calls his songs "The Panty Droppers"

I was banned when this thread was made, but Billy Joel is a favorite of mine to listen to when I want to relax. The Stranger is definetly in my top 10 (as it should be in yours ).

Who's got 12 Gardens Live?

I was at two of those shows, just a month before that I saw the Stones and a month after that I saw Tom Petty. Billy blew both completely away.
