This thread is about all those really boring basslines that you can play. Name the song and bands ...

I say most songs by U2 , not only are the basslines extremely easy, they're impossibly boring, consisting of most 1/4 or 1/8 notes

all the songs from Heroes del Silencio.
There are some really good metal songs, that have boring basslines. But I don't mind because they're great songs xD, listen to Mago de Oz's La Voz Dormida

Boring basslines can be fun if you can go crazy to them or if you like the song enough.

in technical terms, its boring as hell- like 3 notes. But when you play it, its so amazingly easy to get really into it and thrash about, thus fun to play.

The bass during the guitar/talkbox solo in "Do You Feel" by Peter Frampton. Its like, 6 minutes of 3 notes. But that makes it easier to spice up I guess.

an effective bass line is not determined by the number of notes per measure. it's fine to like, or dislike, a song. thats called, personal preference. what may be "boring" to you, is powerful magic to millions of others. without trying to be mean, this thread is
a noob question. an incredible waste of time. no offense intended to anyone. but not the best effort of the thread starter. the bass forum should be bigger than this small
minded thread. the opinions are my own. (flame away, noobs.)

way to bring down the thread

i understand fully what you mean, i was going to say so too, but then i thought it doesn't really help the thread at all, so i'd leave it out and just go with the flow. We gots two active mods now, im sure if they deem it pointless, they'll deal with it- until then, just let it go on about its business.

Teen Spirit - its insanely boring to play on its own but its great to rock out to if the other instrument are present, otherwise it becomes a big basket of monotony and repetition.......
still a good song, though

"*sigh*... Token, how many times do we have to go through this? You're black. You can play bass."

"I'm getting sick of your stereotypes."

"Get as sick as you want, just give me a goddamn bass line!"

Back to the thread... I agree with the threadstarter, sometimes I get bored with U2 basslines. I think they fit the style, certainly, but there's no way around the fact that I get a little bored doing one note in straight 8ths for a measure.

Maybe there should be a thread about the most interesting basslines to play (not hardest, most interesting). Sight-reading jazz was a hoot, I wasn't good enough to sleepwalk through a chart so I had to be on my toes.

Rats in the Hallway by Rancid bores the hell out of me. Any Lynyrd Skynyrd song makes me want to throw up. Too Many Puppies by Primus is the most boring and redundant bassline ever.....period.
#37
Livewire by AC/DC is just the same note other than the chorus and solo, but I can get into it by singing along, listening to the guitar, and hoping my right hand doesn't die by the end of the six minute song.
