How do you actually make the scale into something? Can anyone give me a tabbed out solo that would be good for a first timer at soloing and scales?
theres a million ways to go about doing this, generally to get the best out of yourself i would recommend music theory, me personally i use a combination of theory & what my gut tells me
scales aren't meant to be rules and cages to stay locked in...they are merely guidelines to what sounds pleasing to the ear and what theoretically fits...i would suggest learning the modes and how they relate to chord progressions in soloing

here's a great place to start

from there, you have to travel outside the box and play what you hear in your head, using scales as tools to create your vision
