whats the cheapest usb box I can buy to get started in PC recording? List me a good basic one, is the Line 6 for $129 any good? How much for a decent interface box with the ability to create bass lines and drum tracks? Does the "Black Box" by M Audio do all this? Do you create the bass/drums on screen with a windows interface, is it laid out like sheet music in bars? Im a noob to PC recording so any info would be cool. I would rather use a SHure57 and mic my amp than going direct with one of these digital usb boxes any insight into this as well?

or do you DL backin tracks and just play over them (for covers)? But I still want to create backing tracks for originals.

who needs backing tracks when u can learn drums

anyways.

i'd go with the miking idea.
a 57, anice pre amp, and a nice usb or pci interface card.

always works

Backing tracks are cheaper, and quicker than learning drums if you can't play them.
