Wow, I really want to be involved in this somehow.
Though Radiohead-like production is something I doubt I'd be able to pull off, even remotely.
Can I be a judge, then?

How can you judge it when some people use backing tracks, and when other try and cover the song on their own, and when some people use vocals, when some dont..

sorry i just dont see how this is going to work

I think we're going to look at how good the person doing the actual recording did. Meaning that someone could have the most accurate backing track in the world but totally mess up their part over it; then we'd give them a low rating..
That way it's not biased toward who has the better backing track, who did do vocals, etc.

I'll do How to Disappear Completely if it's not too late. I just have to learn the song, lol.
*Taylor 214ce Acoustic
*Fender Highway One Honey Blonde Strat (Fralin Pickups)
*Epiphone Zephyr Regent (Gibson '57 Humbucker)
*Vox 847 Wah
*Fulltone Fulldrive 2 MOSFET
*Fender Blues Deluxe Amp
#33
Actually screw that, I really don't feel like learning it.

Well I plan on doing vocals, acustic, and electric guitars.

How could you compare that to someone that doesnt do vocals, and just plays the song over a backing track.

Or how could you compare it say if I wanted to make the cover more of my own version, compared to someone who just replayed the song note for note.
Thats all im sayin dude :/

It all depends on how well you do on it. You could end up doing terrible and screwing up all the parts, whereas the person who only did the guitar did a superb job. Or vice versa, you know? It's not about who did more work on it, it's just whoever's turns out to be the overall most enjoyable.

See the last sentence of what I said up there; that should cover it.

I am not going to change the rule on backing tracks as SethMegadefan said it just depends on how well you do your particular parts, and if anything Peaceful Rocker it gives you a better chance doesn't it?

This pretty much somes up how it works:
