K, I have a roland Micro cube at present and am looking to upgrade. I have a small room and my house is small so I need something under 200 watts. I play everything from classic rock to Metal. not really a blues player. I need something with great clean and killer distortion. I've looked at Marshalls and Fenders, but Marshalls don't have that buttery reverb clean; and fenders don't have killer distortion. I've got a Boss Mt-2 pedal that I am very happy with, so I looked into a fender hot rod deville. If anyone knows a good all around amp besides the ones I've listed let me know. Oh, and my budget is less that $800.

If you're a metalhead you don't really need fender-ish cleans, and the MT-2 of yours won't help either

Under 200? Probably a bit less than that, 'specially with tube.
Try a Marshall TSL 601 or 602, though they both have a lot of power for home playing.

You might be able to find it used for about 800?

EDIT: Oh, I read that you wanted the buttery reverb clean and I realized you said Marshalls don't have that.. I don't know how much you'll be using the clean channel but probably not very often as a classic rock - metal guy.

He won't need Fender-y cleans, I'm sure

I play alot of clean stuff as well. I'm at 2 opposite ends of the spectrum. I'll look at the crate and the TSL. If anyone else has an idea, post it.

I have just recently picked up a Peavey JSX head. I am absolutely blown away by this amp and highly recommend it. I play everything from Black Sabbath to Alice in Chains to Hendrix so I go between clean and distorted quite a bit. I love the tone the JSX gives me. The head is 120 watts and the combo amp is 120 also. I would highly recommend you try it out.
