I don't really have a buddy to practice modes with over a progression. So is there some good songs I can practice some modes over? I usually learn better if I play with some kind of progression to pick up some good phrasing ideas. Or maybe someone could suggest a site with repeating chord progressions to practice over? would appreciate it. Thanks!

Well, if you have Guitar Pro or Power Tab, you can write a chord progression there and play some modes over it.

I have Power Tab, I didn't know it played sounds. Might just check this out.

Really? One of the main points of powertab was so you could hear it. Glad you have some"thing" to play with now, though. Have fun

You might want to check out the Book/CD "Shred Guitar".
It has exactly what you're looking for. It goes though 10 progressions. Each
one is based on one or more modes. Each progression has a number of sample
licks in the given modes. The CD has all the examples played out and includes
just the base progression so you can just play over it.
