This will seem like a stupid question to many, I'm sure, but I've spent my years playing developing my knowledge of theory and technique while ignoring the gear aspects. I am the antithesis of a gearhead.

I was just wondering if it's possible to install P-90 pickups in a guitar designed for humbuckers. Any help would be appreciated.

NO! the soapbars are a just one way of mounting soapbars. you need to get a humbucker size p90 for one to fit.

You can't just install a P-90, no, but some companies, like Seymour Duncan, make soapbars that are humbucker sized. A set I recommend are the ones made by Rio Grande. And I would also recommend staying away from the noiseless P-90s some companies make.

Crunchboxes have 2 coils. The Bastard and Fat Bastard are the Rio Grande hum sized 90s.
