I am currently exploring music theory and i was wondering what order i should learn. Should i start out with standard notation? Then chords? Scales next? modes? When is it safe for me to go on to the next step? please help

learn the major scale - how to form it, the intervals, etc. From that, all other theory comes. Then learn the circle of fifths.

Standard notation->Major scales (how to form it, etc.)->Circle of fifths->Major scale modes.

I'm not exactly sure where minor scales fit into this. Good luck and don't give up
