i'd go 4 the s470 but that's my choice i think you should try both out on the aspects that you most want on the guitar id only go 4 the s470 because i layed one in a stors and it felt and played really good(its felt like leather or you know wodd but whatever)

Edit your posts, dont double post.

Id go with the S, Mahogany > Basswood.

I have an S470DX ( just has maple top ) and i like it better than the RG as post above says:
mahogany > basswood

its also nice and slim and light. and i think the trem is better

See whether its the new S470 with ZR trem or the old one, with ****ty Lo-TRS I trem. I'd go with the RG570 with AANJ.

The S doesn't have an AANJ?

nope but i do believe it has a set neck which has killer fret access and i believe about the same as an aanj if not more

^ More. RGT's ive played are like basically to the 20th fret its crazy.....

If the RG is AANJ id go for it.... Hell even if it wanst i still would, it all depends on styles of playing.

S470 = Van Halen , Led zeppelin maybe

Rg570 = Paul Gilbert, Macalpine, Cooley

well pretty much for ESP SV Standard the fretboard joins the body probably at the 20th fret but if you stretch you can touch the neck humbucker with your pinky

Both Ibanez RG AANJ's and RGT's have awesome fret access...if the 570 has an Edge Pro and an AANJ and is in a reasonable condition then go for it.
Ibanez Prestige RG1570 ftw!
