I second the Roland. It's a great amp. Other than that, avoid Spyder's, they suck. Although, the Line 6 Flextone isn't that bad (but too expensive).

A Vox Valvetronix AD100VT would have all the power he'd want, and would get him some great tones. However, considering he was wanting a Spyder, I'd assume he's a metal head, and a Vox will struggle with metal tones.

well I have the vox and its great for metal too! I use the UK modern and recto channel with a maxon OD9 and it gives me quite much of a metal tone!

I've also heard very good things about the Fender Cyber-twin.
It's a fine line between clever and stupid.

Look for a second hand vox ad60. It's a lot better than the new series, and is ****ing loud as well. You could probably pick one up on ebay for around £250-£300

im not a metal head i am quite the opposite but i do like some metal

i have an amp now

my uncle is a rich old fart and he gave me two line 6 spider amps mark 1 and a vox ad100vt i am lucky i think i uncle is great

dud ehave you heard aobut the new hughes and kettner modeling amps. all tube and ****, but all the features of a modeling amp.

i dont know if it will be better than the tri amp, but it might be good.
