i need a cheap head and a cheap cab, or a combo, for under like $600 USD. I want a tube amp, we have no noise ordinance here, so watts are a premium. I was looking at a Peavey ValveKing 112. how are these amps on gigging and studio playing? Any other suggestions as to what amp i should get?
I had my hands in the river,
My feet back up on the bank,
Looked up to the Lord above and said,
"Hey man, Thanks"

The Valve King 112 is not a head. It is a combo. They are pretty nice amps though, but it all depends on what you play.

If you could stretch your budget to $750, then you could get a Traynor YCV50 Blue. They're amazing and very versatile amps. The Valveking isn't bad, but it sounds kinda solid-state, and it's a little bland. It's not as versatile either. Although, it's a great amp for someone who needs a lot of volume on a low budget.

Um the Bandit is a SS amp...

Transtube technology is just a marketing thing...they it IMMULATES tube amps...but it does a bad job.

Im going to suggest something outside the box.

Hughes and Kettner Edition Tube.

20watts. EL84s, Eminence RockDriver Cream speaker....mmm...
