What songs do you think shouldn't be covered or just can't be covered without an angry mob? This is full band covered and live I'm talking about...

Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
There are too many elements that go into this song so it would take a lot of preparation. You need a pretty decent vocalist and a few backgrounds guys too...

Stairway to Heaven - Led Zepplin
Psh. "No Stairway!"

I Believe in a Thing Called Love - The Darkness
Unless your name is Claudio Sanchez (Coheed and Cambria) or you're professionally trained with a rediculous range the vocals in this song aren't happening. It's fun to attempt drunk but that's about it. Usually it ends up in a very, very airy falsetto or pure shouting in the wrong key.

Cabron - Red Hot Chili Peppers
If you're unlucky, your audience will know what the word means. If you're me, the venue owner will take offense and storm the stage telling you to stop.

Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana
Out of the million garage bands that cover this song, nobody seems to get it right. The guitar player can't even play the intro riff, the drums are out of time, and/or the singer sounds like Barney. I don't get it, except the singer. Imitating Kurt takes several years of sucking ash.

Honorable mention is Welcome to the Jungle by Guns 'N' Roses.

Well, I think it's hard to cover a System of a Down song from a vocal point, because Serj Tankian has a very unique voice and has massive range.

I heard it means "bastard". That true?

yeah...coheed and cambria songs are extremely difficult vocally...
so are AFI songs
but from a guitarists standpoint
i believe all songs are coverable

I'll say.
They were originally going make Claudio a part of Mount Rushmore, but the material was not tough enough to sculpt his hair out of.

"St. Anger" was done in Drop Z tuning, they were trying to "out heavy" Slipknot.

It means a lot of things aparently, but the way the Urban Dictionary defines it makes it seem like a very taboo-ish term to use.

I spent a while transcribing the song without a capo, then when we played it on stage people looked at us like were evil. ^_^; Haha.

I'd like to hear your singer. I doubt he sounds the same. I'm not saying he isn't good, but I've never heard a voice like Serj.

Someone wasn't thinking/is a n00b.
I even know a couple guys who can play it.
Why does SRV cover hendrix's best songs though? I mean, one I can understand but come on, do your own stuff.

i dont really think any song SHOULDN'T be covered, unless the people doing it are doing a really horrible job.

I agree with the threadstarter on his choices. It's too true, I saw a band attempt to cover I Believe In A Thing Call Love once, and the band was amazing, except the singer sucked ass, and it was a girl who couldn't hit that range.

God awful cover

Yeah I didn't like APC's "Imagine".
Covers of "Nothing Else Matters", especially those by squawky girls such as Bif Naked, etc. etc., really annoy me. The best version is definitely the S&M one.

Alot of Boston songs would be hard to get right.
The producer was a self-proclaimed jeenyus in the studio.
The Vocals are just plain hard to get right.
The keyboard parts in some songs might get a little overwhelming to some.
(The organ intro to Foreplay/Longtime is hard because it is straight triplets going pretty fast, and the key postions are a little awkward)
Lots of Vocal harmonies.
Lots of weird overdubbed guitar stuff.
BOLD.
