I been playing my guitar for not even a month now, and I come to realize, I want to have the nice low funky sound the bass offers.

Now, since its my first guitar, I dont want to spend over 300 bucks. Im thinking maybe down the road, if Im realy getting into play, ill buy a better one. But for now, cheaper the better.

I was think of either getting This:

Or:

Then sepretly buy a like 250 dollar guitar (recomendations please)

What do you guys think?

the squires suck and from what iv heard so do the drives. if you just want this to learn than i would go with the epiphone Eb-0 starter packs. but if you are wanting to get serious later down the road just save up and get a good bass now. youll regret it later if u dont

I realy rather just go 300 or under for now. Im more afraid that Ill end up not liking it after a month or so. I rather regret not spending alot for a better guitar then regret spending alot when i dont like it.

What if I look around criags list to see if I can find any nice used guitars? What would you guys recomend that I look for, and what to stay away from? Im wanting to play funk like rock (Like what RHCP plays).

how much are you willing to spend on the bass? how much on the amp?

any features you want?

I reccomend the Squire or the Ibanez pack. Epiphone is just a really shotty company for basses.

starting out with a squier pack isnt bad but when you realize that better sounds can be made from pretty much EVERY other bass then it gets old its a good starter tho dont get me wrong ive started out with one

On the amp im not gonna go over 50.
On the Guitar, around 300-350 ill spend on it

Features, Im not to sure what you mean by this. Like what type of genre is it good at (Jazz, Funk, Blues, Metal, ect..)? If thats what you mean, Im kind of wanting to go with the funk sound.

i recommond you go at the very least, 120 / 280, cause the amp is a lot more important than you think. Usually one should spend more on their amp(s) / rig than their bass. the one exception, IMO, is starters buying first basses/amps. You just need a small 10-30W amp just for the sake of having an amp, so you can hear yourself over an acoustic guitar, and maybe even an electric

but you still want something decent, and any NEW 10W amp for 50.. wait nevermind, they dont sell 50$ amps. you're really gonna have to dish out 120ish for something that dosnt fall apart in weeks.

For a funk bass, look into an OLP
