There should be 2 solder spots on the bottom of the pickgaurd. You're going to either have to desolder them (do NOT use a soldering gun, use a soldering iron, soldering guns give out a magnetic field and screw with your pickups) or cut them using a rotary tool with a cut off wheel/disk.

What kind of knife? Maybe one of those ones from those late night commericals "The things can ****in' cut everything, and then... cut a tomato!"

A hack saw might work, but it might damage the insides of the pick-up.

I had covers on a guitar that i took off for fun once, and They didn't have solder on them, just wax. I just scored that with an exacto knife, abd then wiggled everything. So you should look on the bottom of the pick-up to see what is there, if there are little metal blobs, those are solder, the best way to get that of is with a soldering iron and a soldering pump. If it's wax (mine was a pink colour), then just cut it not very deep all the way around, then go deeper, then deeper. then wiggle it out
