I have a Digitech Death Metal Pedal, and my head is all tube. I want to use my tube sound but i want a boost, ive been directed to buy a Keeley SD-1 or a Ibanez TS. I was wondering if i can use the distortion on the head and turn on my Digitech Pedal for boost and just adjust whatever is needed on the Pedal's EQ.

The Digitech pedal could be used as a boost, doesn't mean it'll sound any good though.
There's no harm in trying though.

Try out some overdrive pedals with your amp, see what you think, and they'll work for boosting the distortion.

you COULD. but it would sound like a sweaty buttcrack fart.

You do not need the SD-1 to be modded by Keeley. For you it would be a waste of money. The SD-1 is an awesome OD pedal and works great for any kind of boost.

is the regular Sd-1 is good enough, how bout the TS9.

^Also a great pedal.

Try a few overdrives out, see which one you like best.

a regular SD-1 is awesome. I have one. Its great for boosting and better using it for its overdrive sounds.

The TS-9 might actually sound better as a booster. I dont really like using it for just an Overdrive pedal.

you can't use the death metal as a boost, no gain knob.

who cares, he made a sale

but i use a ds-1 as a booster on my JSX (All tube) it sounds okay, but it can sound like crap. if you want, try to fiddle with it and see what you get.

Try an Ibanez tube screamer or two

those bats are useless

anyways look at my sig, i have a biased opinion, so just try out a bunch of overdrives to find which one you like

Allright enough with the spam, so i guess ill try out the SD-1 and the Ts9, but i think the TS9 is the better buy.

Hold on..on the death metal pedal, it has a "level" knob, the first one..that boosts the signal from the guitar, or atleast thats what it says it does.

the v3 is the head right? the level knob i thought was just volume.

Those amps are very loud and sound great, do you know what kind of speakers does the V3 line come in? My legacy has Vintage30 Celestian.

maybe the digitech " bad monkey", it's cheap and i hear its a good one. also, you could try the boss OS-2, which i heartily recommend, to change the sound of the overall boost. it switches between overdrive and distortion. it is really quite cool.

i want the metal sound, but i want the GBE strings to be deeper tone, i know changing my strings help. But i listened to the TS9 and the SD1 i like the Sd-1 but the TS9 has that kind of bluesy warm tone.
