im taking this home recording thing seriously and i need to know
1. can i use my good computer speakers as monitors?
2. i dont know what impedance/ohms the speakers are but can i put bigger ones on there or should i just get a compact mini stereo to run as monitors? any help is appreciated..

no and no.

bigger is not better. high quality monitors generally have woofers that are only 3-5 inches. invest in a pair of real studio monitors.

there are a couple budget suggestions. thousand dollar stereo speakers are not good. you'd be better off with cheaper reference monitors. there is a reason.
