I got a used Peavey XXX super 40 combo off the eBay. Everything looks good except for the reverb ... it doesnt seem to do anything much. I opened up the back and took out the reverb tank ... all springs are there, all connections seem to be in place ... I would say at max reverb, my sound has about 5 - 10% reverb. I dont have any other effects except for a Morley Wah in the front of the amp. Any ideas / experiences with the same problem ?

thanks

Generally, I've found that with a lot of Peavy's amps, that the built in 'verb doesn't do much. Then again, I could be wrong and playing through ****ty peavys (I don't own one, I've just used them at school). In any case, I suggest getting a pedal reverb. Try the EHX Holy Grail... it's amazing.

^ that's what the previous owner also said. But my previous amp the Peavey valveking had an excellent reverb on it. Anyway, i'll get a pedal. Its long overdue anyway.
