Okay, I have a MIM Strat, which I've had for almost two and a half years now. Early on, the G string would break all the time, which I then found out to be caused by a burr in the bridge. Had that fixed, and it hasn't been a problem since.

Recently, the G string refuses to stay in tune for more than a minute. And no, they are not new strings. So my question is, what do you think is the problem? The bridge? The tuners?

EDIT: forgot to mention that it tunes down... may have been obvious, but oh well...

Thanks.

Tighten the springs in the back of your guitar and/or add more springs.

G string are bitches to tune, on all guitars, I wouldn't worry about it too much, unless it gets seriously uit of tune.

yeah if its just one string, sounds like the tuner is slipping at the headstock.
try to tighten the nut connecting the tuner to the headstock.

if its tight and still slipping, time to buy a new set of tuners.

^^^ If I do that, do I have to buy all new ones? Also, what ones would you suggest, and where do I order them from? I've replaced electronics but never hardware and know nothing about it.

meh, its an excuse to do an upgrade!!! [/end gay voice]

but yea, tuners, and if you are gonna have some fun, bridge too.

for fenders, schaller tuners are good. they come on MIA strats.
and you can get them at ebay, or stewmac.com

x2, i usually buy from stewmac.com too. depends on the country ur in i guess.

i like stewmac because, they give u the EXACT measurements, right down to the screw holes.
and they have a very helpful staff.
make sure u click on the extra info located at the tabs, on bottom of every product picture.
and description.
