After shopping for some records the other day, I sat down to have a smoke outside the record store and check out my swag, and this other dude was there smoking and commented on my choice of records (Yngwie J. Malmsteen's Rising Force and Cryptic Slaughter's Money Talks)... anyway, we got into a discussion about metal, thrash etc., and we both came to the same conclusion that nothing has really 'wow'ed us in recent years.

So, what do you think is the best record you've heard of the 2000's, and what's the best new band of this decade?

For the album: Exhumed - Anatomy is Destiny
For the band: I can't pick one, no one has impressed me. Maybe Municipal Waste.

Thoughts?

Best record dude, not best soundtrack to a gay pornographic movie.

Yes, it was released in 2000.

But anyway, I think you might get a fair amount of disagreement here, as that album was a very different sound for Mayhem. Though I personally love it, it isn't everyones favourite.

He could've said "millenium" and it'd still be off. Try Eon or something

Opeth- Deliverance
or agist- Onset of Putrefacation
I'd be heartily agreeing with you about OoP, but it was released in '99

Epitaph was 2004, I believe. So that one's still in for the running...other than the fact that it wasn't an incredible album.
