Could someone explain the differences between each of the following:

-Fugue
-Canon
-Opus
-Orchestral
-Symphony

Like, how they each are constructed, the different ways the melodies/harmonies/phrases and such work.

Thanks.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fugue <- read the first paragraph

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canon_%28music%29
and theres a nice image of the Pachabel's Canon in D with the repeating bits color coded also on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pachelbel%27s_Canon#Structure

Opus : all the works of a composer

Orchestral : it was written for an orchestra

Symphony : a large composition with several movements in it (at least most of the time)
