I'm going out and buying some cheap squier to customize, just to get some experience for more expensive projects. I'm looking to re-paint it, change the pickups, paint the pickguard, and change the tuning keys. So..

1. Would I be able to sand it down with just some sand paper?
2. Is a soldering iron and screwdriver all that's really needed to change the pickups?
3. What kind of paint would I need for the body/pickguard?

well i don't know much about finishing but i know a good bit about electronics.

For pickups you'll need an iron, wire cutters and strippers, solder of course, mini screw drivers, and extra 22-24 gauge wire if you mess up.
Ibanez -> Peavey -> Eardrums

Apparently I'm on some list of people to listen to..?
