Well, all the guitar manufactures seem to have a bunch of guitars then guitars that look just like them that say "studio". What does this mean? What makes it a "studio" guitar
#2
some of the cosmetics are takin off, sound exactly the same, just look different, EX. no binding
#3
Well in the case of gibson, the studio's have less asthetically. No binding, no figured tops, no fancy finshed(although the alpine white is very pretty). They do however have the same wood and pickups as a classic and custom.
Ibanez -> Peavey -> Eardrums

Apparently I'm on some list of people to listen to..?

i got a gibson lp studio, and its awwwesome. it sounds a lot like a les paul standard (o course, not exactly), it just doesnt look as fancy. but i got it for over 1000 dollars less than the les paul standard. theyre really good. unless your playing serious huge gigs, id never bother upgrading to a standard.

So the reason why they don't have fancy look because they are meant to be played in a studio so no one cares about the look? I've never knew that, a lesson learned.

I hear that if you go outside a studio with one, you die.

Well, its not got the same pickups as the standard or the classic, thats for sure. The pickups are subpar compared to the classic and the standard, i'd say. If we're talking gibson. But everything else is just as good as far as i've gathered.
#14
Most studios are haunted man, I'd beware. You need a level 30 anti-cast to ward off the studio-death.
haha

Les Paul Studio guitars have nasty wood. Really nasty, eesh. Tone of a cardboard box unless you find a really, really good one.

^He's talking about the LP Jr, which is made out of plywood (not the 57 reissue) and has a humbucker (not 57 reissue).

Lol, yeh they hesitate at that bit, i think its funny how they try to over do it by saying

"Fast-playing neck and resonant tonewood body enhance the amazingly powerful, sustain drenched tone"

What a complete load of bull

You're an idiot. They're made of the same materials as the LP Standard. The only difference is the pickups and lack of binding. I'd agree if you were referring to the LP Special, but not the Studio.

wouldn't that defintion also be suited to "veneer"? as in "mahogany with a maple top? I mean it's only TWO layers, but ......

What do they call that stuff that is mostly glue with a bunch of wood shavings packed tightly together, then pressed and cut into shape? Now that stuff REALLY sucks ....

thats called particle board. I actually had a particle board guitar untill i smahed it at a gig.

What? Why would you upgrade to a Standard? There a lot of people who play a seriously huge gig with a Les Paul Studio (ex. Jade Puget)

And what about people on a budget who can't afford to play a Standard?

For some reason, I'd actually perfer a Studio over a standard.
#33
Same, I change out pickups on most of my guitars anyway.
I'd be afraid to gig with a 1700 dollar guitar. If I bumped a studio into something, I wouldnt feel to bad. If I scratched up a standard or classic. Shew. I'd explode.
I play schecter and fender anyway. So I dont worry about the studio garbage.
