Highway 1 + Better Pickups = A guitar equal to an American, maybe better because of the thin finish which equals tone.
Love in technicolour, sprayed out on walls
Well I've been pounding at the pavement
'Til there's nothing at all
I got my cloak and dagger
In a bar room brawl
See the local loves a fighter
Loves a winner to fall

so which one is the best again

well a thinner finish would make the guitars body resonate more thus giving better tone. if the highway 1 strat has the thinner finish, then its probably a better sounding guitar if you pair it with the same electronics as an american strat

It's Guitar Center.

And I KNOW they are made in the USA, but they are basically a Mexican (All mexican parts) with better quality control, and potentially better pickups.

And I bought (And later sold) a REAL American for less than the price of a highway 1.

He wasn't owned...

Highway 1's are essentially mexican guitars with better quality control and assembled in the US with an American Neck. They are between Mexican and American Standard.

They are good guitars it all depends on what you are looking for.
I listen to music and I don't need your opinions about what I listen to.

I'm not a fan of highway 1s at all.

They aren't made out of as good wood as the americans.

Also the whole finish thing is bull.

If you take two strats one has a nitrocellulose finish and the other polyeutherane with the same wood and electronics you wont tell the difference.

Also the american line has the S-1 switching which lets a P bass emulate a jazz bass tone and vice versa. That alone makes it worth it imo.
