This topic might fit into riffs and recording a little better but im still writing a song so it cant be unincluded
Well ive been writing songs for a while but i look back and they are always just straight chords and frankly before i write any songs that have "riffs" or single noted sonngs i need to some help on music theory i guess you would call it.

Heres what i think i understand:
K so songs are made up of notes played on scale
(starting on the E and then playing the dots in any order then repeating)

HERE WHAT I DONT UNDERSTAND:
can different postitions of the same scale be played in the same song as long as they stay in in one key?
(playing any of the dots on this whole scale)

who cares what forum its in??...it fits in here fine so it doesnt matter, just help him out. to be honest jackson it tends to screw with your creativity etc if youre always thinking 'right so what notes am i allowed to play after this one', as you get more experience you figure out which notes will sound good after the one youre on. however, if youre having problems figuring out where to go next then it does help to think what key youve been writing the rest of the song/riff in. thats just my way of looking at it
i only wear black until they invent a darker colour

everyone is sh*t....were just all at different levels of sh*t

It doesn't fit in here, this is where you post original lyrics. He would get more and better help if he posted it in Musicians Talk.
