My mate is saving up for an amp around about £150-200. He's using a Westfield Strat copy and some small 10-watt amp at the moment, so he's upgrading his amp becuase he finds his sound a bit too thin and weak. He's mainly into rock, hard rock and old punk (clash and stuff). Any suggestions? I suggested the Vox AD50VT....

The Vox AD50VT sounds like a god suggestion. A Laney LC15 might also be looking into, although, he'd need an OD pedal to get hard rock tones out of it (but it is a tube amp).

does he play shows or what?

if he doesn't....tell him to go with the Vox.....because SS amps are better at low volumes
