well, i got a job this summer, so i was thinking of getting a new tube amp. i want all tube, and my budget is around $1000. i was thinking either the peavey valveking 100 or the carvin mts412.

oh, and i'd prefer a half stack. any input is appreciated.

Cheap amps are "that bad". They suck up your tone like cocaine at Kate Moss' party.

I went with a Fender DeVille. It's no half stack, but it's loud as balls, tube, and has amazing clean tone, and is right around $700, I think...

Erm...what do you play? and what sounds are you looking for?

And why a half stack?

And a combo at that price will be better than the heads, and be loud enough.

+1 go for the combo

hhmm..what kind of music do you play?

As everyone else said, in that price range you should probably buy a tube combo, unless you get a good deal on ebay.

okay, so i've been thinking, and maybe a combo wouldn't be bad...but i still want loud. is there a decent mesa boogie under $1000?

oh, and i play metal/shred, but a clean channel would be a plus. don't change your mind because of it.
