I've finally got the sound and strumming right for the most part. The only problem I'm having is with the end of the pre-chorus and chorus.

I can't seem to get that real acoustic like sound with it either.

D|-9--9-9-9-9-9-5-5-5-5-5-5-------------7-7-7-7-7-7-|

Any strumming tips and string idas would be GREATLY appreciated.

usually when I play that song on acoustic, I don't pay attention to the strokes. By slowing it down a little and not playing as many strokes, it makes it sound more calm and acoustic like, and lets the sound of the chords fill out more.

So for those power chords just don't play every stroke noted in the tab.

Yeah, I've noticed that.

Less is more in this case, but still towards the end of the pre-chorus and beginning of the chorus, I can't figure out the strumming and stuff. PLEASE HELP ME. I can't move on to a new song until I finish this one. It'll kill me.

Please, someone help me.

The strumming is killing me. I'd like to move on to Times Like These.

Unfortunately nobody can teach you how to strum these parts. Not in text anyway.

Unless you know someone who can show how to play that part then you'll have to just keep on listening and trying. It'll come eventually.

As for moving on, just move on. Maybe something in another song may help you to play what your missing now.

Try this, I think it sounds closer.

There are two ways he plays it - the first time the sixth string isnt played.
the second time, the sixth string is played the first time but not the others
In the breakdown, he plays the sixth string all the time

well i was going to make a little video lesson for you on this one like i did for somebody on that matchbox 20 song..... but i just broke my finger so that's not happening for a while. if you are having trouble hearing the strumming pattern, listen to the acoustic version of the song through headphones while you play. you'll still be able to hear your guitar plenty loud enough to know when you're hitting the right strumming pattern, and doing it with headphones instead of speakers makes it loads easier for your ears to pick up the strumming... at least it does for me.
