How can I learn how to solo from knowing scales? Do I just combine them? Can someone give me an example please?

Do you know where all the root notes are? If you learn where they are in the scale then you'll know that a new scale pattern begins at every root note, allowing you to connect them up and down the fretboard.

Yeah, I know where all the root notes are...well, I know how to find them. But...ok let's say you start a major pent. scale from C on the G string, would the tab look like this?:
e|----------2-4------------------------------------------------
B|-----2-4-----------------------------------------------------
G|---5--------------------------------------------------------

or

e|-------------3--6----------------------------------------------
B|------3--6------------------------------------------------------
G|---5-----------------------------------------------------------

Using the C on the G string as the root note I would have thought it looks like this ?

e|----------------5------------------------------
B|---------5--8---------------------------------
G|---5--7---------------------------------------

The major scale starting on C would be:

e|--------------------5--7--8--------------------
B|----------5--6--8------------------------------
G|---5--7----------------------------------------
     C D E F G A B C (Notes)

      W W H W W W H (Tones)

And the major pentatonic scale uses the 1st,2nd,3rd,5th and 6th notes of the major scale.
