I'd really like to get an Equalizer, i have all the effects i really need at his point, and was wondering what was the best one for the money. I play mostly metal, alternative, etc.

i was thinking Boss GE7 or Maxon Reissue

I have an MXR-10 band. I can definately say it's better than the GE-7, i was going to buy the GE-7 first then realized it was way too noisey and the MXR offered quite a bit more for not so much more. THe MXR has a tougher construction, more frequencies, gain and volume levels, a lot less hiss. It's also only $20 more than a GE-7.
Ibanez -> Peavey -> Eardrums

Apparently I'm on some list of people to listen to..?

and equalizer in as a seperate unit or stompbox is similar to the bass/mid/treble controls on your amp.

a stompbox EQ will only add to the specific frequecy, whereas your amp takes away from it. People will use EQs to kick up the volume or pitch if theyre about to do a solo or something.

no. he meant the mxr 10 band is 20 bucks more than the boss 7 band.

the danelectro fish n chips is ~30 if i remember right? and has 7/8 bands? its supposedly a real bargain.

a graphic equalizer is good for shaping the sound you want. if you use it as a solo booster you arent going to be turning up the bass. you will turn up the mid/treble range, and you can do that very precisely with graphic eq's

your amp works on a parametric system, which is explained in the wiki.
