i'd like to build a stompbox that acts like a volume and tone pot on my guitar. don't ask why, but i want it. can i follow a basic pickup wiring diagram for a pickup?
like this one:

I will take the white wire coming from the pickups going to the volume pot as the input. Will tha work?

how do those marshall handles compare tonewise to, say, mesa handles?

yep, that'd work fine.

white wire from the pickup = input
grey wire going to the jack = output

just get a DPDT footswitch and 2 jacks and wire it up

edit: heres just a volume pot in a box to see how you could do this

that capacitor is there as a treble bleed capacitor to help retain the treble at low volumes, it can be left it if you want to
