Ok, so I decided to paint my strat for the 3rd time or so.

I knew it was sh!tty paint to begin with, but it was all lowes had and I really was in the mood to paint. After letting the paint cure for about a week, it started peeling. So I just did a coat of laquer over it to keep it from peeling more. I'm not actually gonna use this body again, painting is just a hobby of mine.

I had before and after pics but my dad cleared the flash memory on the camera

Finished product:

I'm never settling for rustoleum ever again. Krylon and Dupli-Color ftw.

Cheap amps are "that bad". They suck up your tone like cocaine at Kate Moss' party.

That's an amazing looking finish idea... wish I had thought of it when I was refinishing my Saga guitar. It's a shame it peeled... are you going to try to fix it?

EDIT: I just saw where you said you weren't going to use the body again. My bad.

I'd love to do a burst myself except it looks intimidating ... too easy to screw up. Props for meeting the challenge!

Now, I will just wait and see how R_H_C_P's burst project goes and learn what to do and not do.

So, are you selling the body cheap?

Ouch, bad peelage. Nice idea though.

Exactly my question! Is there a neck/electronics to go with it if you were interested in selling?

For you guys wanting to buy it, have fun sanding out the neck pocket!

doofus! You don't sand pockets, you put stuff in them. And who puts necks in their pockets?

oh wait, THAT neck pocket........my bad.....
#13
Sorry those of you who wanted to buy it, I already gave it to my friend. Buckethead4prez, I already knew to sand out the neck pocket a little too much before clearcoat, the neck fits in perfect.

If anybody wants me to do the same finish on their guitar, I'd be happy to do it for free. Just pay shipping. I'll use good paint this time. I'm usually a perfectionist, but I knew I wasn't reusing it...

is he for sale?

because if he is, and someone else wants him, I'll buy him and keep his music equipment and resell him to you. I'll even make you a really good deal on him, maybe even send him for a haircut or something before shipping him to you, and I'd ship UPS next day, with lots of packing peanuts and maybe some boiled peanuts.

I like the combo, but i think though the blue should go deeper into the body on the front.
#19
I'm not sure if that peelage is from ****ty paint. It seems to me that the body wasn't prepped properly, but I dont know. Great paint scheme though, I really like it, and yes dupli-color ftw
#20
Hey man, how easy/hard was it to do the blue burst on the outside of the guitar? And did you spray it on from inwards to outwards?
It's just that I'm gonna' refinish my Strat and do a sunburst job, just wanted to get more info...

I thought so too at first. But remember, a pickguard will be covering up most of the white. I want it to stay noticeable that it's a burst.
