you can have the songs you sing
and if we try to make it through the night
you'll have the hope you bring
cause you're every inch a hero
and you're every inch a king

what is it i try to be now?
am i gone, is it lost, am i mud now?
full of scum, trite and bitter, my name now
can you see hope in these darkened skies?

sleeping with either eye open
ragged my breath seems to close in
whistling a tune that keeps me from knowing
slowly the fire is going
no sleeping or breathing tonight

what were those songs he was singing?
slowly the chimes come to ringing
waking us up from this slumber of nothing
and bringing us hope from within

you can have the songs you sing
and if we try to make it through the night
you'll have the hope you bring
cause you're every inch a hero
and you're every inch a king
i shwung and i shwinged
but it never really shwang

Hmmmm not bad. What I liked about this is that a lot of the imagery was good. However, some of the rhyming seemed a bit forced-out (it seemed that several lines didn't really say a whole lot or contribute to the piece, but were put there because they rhymed). Also I didn't really get much out of the song; it did not seem to go anywhere to me.

Don't take that the wrong way, though. I liked the song. The language was good, too.
