Hey guys, I know this is probably one of the most common threads ever in this forum and I'm sorry that I'm contributing to it

anyways

I'm a bassist, but I've been playing guitar for about the past 2 years and I've been running my guitar through my Bassman 60 combo with a distortion pedal, and I'm really getting tired of it, so I'm in the market for a real guitar amp.

I can get anything from Marshall, Peavey, Mesa, Kustom or Vox as I work at the local music store and get Cost + 10% for a price.

I'm willing to spend maybe... 700-800 CAD (retail price, not cost) for an amp, can you guys give me some recommendations. My style is more geared towards metal but with a mix of jazz and funk, so a really versatile amp would be nice.

so far I've tried the Marshall AVT50 which I didn't mind, but dunno, based on the reviews I've seen around here people don't seem to like them....
Also tried a Peavey Valvestate which I didn't like

So, suggestions?

Hmm, would any of you guys recommend the AVT50 then? I mean, I may be doing smaller gigs but for the most part this is gonna be for home use/occasional band practices...

does it have a decent metal tone and a decent accoustic/clean tone?

how about this (since no-one is responding)
a decent combo in the price range previously mentioned which can give tones (out of the box) simmilar to the distortions/clean-ness of the following songs:

distortion
Angels don't kill - Children of Bodom
Victoria's Secret (verses especially) - Sonata Arctica
War of Fidelity - Old Man's Child (especially the part around 2:25)

Clean
Fly by Night - Rush
Andy - Zappa
Draw Me - Sonata Arctica

if you need any of the songs for examples add me on msn at different_strings@hotmail.com (please don't add me to pester me)

Meh, I'm not a huge traynor fan though - my friend has a traynor and I really dislike it's overdriven/distorted tone though a good pedal could fix that, an amp with naturally good distortion would be nice....
