I have seen that before. I think the reason that most guitars don't have amps built in is because it takes away from the sound quality of the amp. Whatever type of amp they have in those guitars probably aren't very good.
It's there for the conveniance of young kids begginning to play guitar. Who don't really care about sound or quality.

I saw Bart playing one of those on an episode of the simpsons.

i wouldnt care if the amp sucked, i would probly buy it if it was really cheap llike the price of a squier. it would be cool, you could take it any where and play without an amp

Because that totally defeats one of the main principles of Rock.
Big amplifiers with lots of volume.
You just cant cram a marshall stacks worth of power into a guitar body.

Does the word 'PORTABLE' make it seem any more reasonable? Seriously. I think it's pretty damn convenient for road trips (Not for touring or gigs, just like.. vacations). Of course, I wouldn't use it. I'd just bring along my Dean headphone amp and my SG, naturally. My miniamp fits in my lap. =]

Rock isn't the only genre of music, Captain Ignorance. Try some blues or jazz.

I think Fernandes has a guitar with a built in amp, quite ugly really.

I've seen hundreds and hundreds of them before.

It's a good concept. But unless you want to pull out £500 for a decent one, your better off putting your old strat knock off through a microcube.

Very nasty quality... well.. everything on those things.
