What in your opinion is the heaviest reasonably priced stock guitar? I'm helping a friend look, and he wants something to play heavier forms of metal (Cannibal Corpse, Nile, Cradle of Filth), so I thought I'd ask here.

Probably something from ESP or a Boogie Street Custom Shop Washburn...

www.boogiestreet.com

Check those out. Pretty cheap for custom shop guitars...

It really doesn't matter, the amp is what makes it metal. Anything with hotter pickups would work, but with the right amp it won't matter at all.

i think ibanez's are, for being cheap, i hate the stereotypes that think they're just for metal, but best would be something way up there, like xenn said, maybe a custom shop washburn
#9
I think of Ibanez more for shred then metal, but they are great for metal too.

^Arlabester, for the $800 that some of those custom washburns I linked to cost, you get one hell of a guitar.

Also, how do you like your new Ibanez?

the ibanez=teh pwnage, i need to elevate my right leg when i play sitting down no matter what, but im a big guy (dont you dare say fat) and the ax body is the size of a strat, if it had two of its smaller horns.. so i have to get use to the size difference, and the pickups are so much more better than single coils (for what i play) and first gig in a month or two! (ok its a talent show)
