Guitar: American Fat Strat
Pups: Bridge: Seymour Duncan SL59-1 Little '59
Neck and Middle: Fender Hot Noiseless Pickups
Amp: A Vox tube amp.
Pedal: Boss OD-20 Its more than you want but it all kinds of distortion and overdrive.

Hmm, what type of bluesy sounds are you looking for?

And go to a shop and play things, decide for yourself what you like aswell as getting help.

Marshall AVT150HX Half Stack should work great

^They're horrible, horrible amps, they can no way do blues.
For that price you can get a good valve amp.
Threadstarter, combo or halfstack? *cough*combo*cough*

For the head maybe look into the Peavey 5150? It's a great metal head, and even Classic Rocky dudes like Ted Nugent use 'em.
haha

Instead of the Vox AD100VT get the Vox AC30 http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Vox-AC30CC2-30W-2x12-Custom-Classic-Combo?sku=482620
Its 30 watts all tube power. It'll kick around the AD100VT any day. The Fender is a good choice, though.

but how loud can the 30 watts go?
i havn't joined a band yet but if i do i doubt i'm gonna have a PA to be heard over the drummer.

In the case of metal, are you also interested in shred?

For 2000 dollars, i would have to reccomend a high end ibanez prestige model.
