Alright, I wasn't sure if this was the best thread for the question, but I need some help... I finally got myself the macbook I've been saving up for, which means I finally have GarageBand..so I go and I get myself a 1/4 - 1/8 adapter cable, I plug myself in, I follow the instructions on the apple support page, and get everything to where I should hear my guitar through the computer... however, all I get is a ringing sound... can anyone off any reason as to why this is happening... bah..I'm so bad with technology..

Have you turned your monitors on? Check that, then repost. That's generally the problem when I use garageband.

Hey guys! I just started playing electric guitar should I get a Gabson Lay Pall or a Femdor Startokaster. I like the picks on the gabsons but i like how sweet femdors look. Beforre i get a gabson what company makes them?

Go to system preferences-->audio and choose line in port instead of mic.

I also use garage band.

hmmm, if my brother was home I could ask him (he is kinda like my sound engineer).

But he is not, so for now I don't know.

well did you go to new track--->real instrument. Then change that speaker icon to a guitar.

Try that, just another option.

Well here's what I got right now:

Guitar is plugged in with (obviously) the 3/4 jack in the guitar and the 1/8 in the audio in port. I already went to the Sound Prefs. and changed it to Line in. I've got the volume up, I've got the input set to Channel 1 & 2 (Stereo)..and, of course it's on Real Instrument with guitar selected... anything I'm forgetting to do??? ugh

I dunno. When you are playing does the volume meter thing flash towards the right indicating that sound is being picked up?
