I am in need of a new amp as mine is beggining to die . Sooo I need an amp which will be big enough to gig with and it has to be versitile. I have looked at a few Hiwatt cabs but no heads.

Looking to spend about £550 (just over $1000US).

Spanks,

Ash

EDIT: I forgot to say that my brain hurts because I have been told that amps are usually pointed to a specific style ie Marshall = rock/ metal...

Thanks, but I have tried a few Marshalls and I found with all the expensive ones that I am paying for effects that I am not going to use, simply because I have all the effects i need in my Korg AX1500G.

I am not, however, above getting a cab of one brand and a head of another.

why not? i had that same problem but if its because of the name just pop the name off the cab.

now are you looking to spen that much for just a head? cause if your lookin to spend a little over a frand then maybe the ibanez thermion, maybe mesa single rectifier, possiblt marshall dsl 50.

but do not get the marshall avt or mg seris, there just gimmicks. but if your gonna spend about a grand for head and cab, im gonna suggest a nice tube 2x12 (for home use, and small gigs) then get an 2x12 or 4x12 extension (for band practice, and larger gigs), and if you need louder you can always mike it

If you're set on a head & cab:

And get a laney cab for it.

If you're willing to buy a combo, which would get you better quality in general:

http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/options.php?id=283 (And an OD pedal to boost it for more gain)
http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/options.php?id=382 (possibly also with an OD)

I would put more, but I don't have much time XD
A dwarf might hear you. What then?

What styles do you play? That's the most important thing to consider.
Feel free to call me Kyle.

I play anything from Indie to metal, so it needs to have a clean sound.

Go to a shop and try a load of amps out, see what you think.

But a 2x12 combo will be just as good as a halfstack, so don't limit yourself.
